We can learn a lot from playing chess. We can learn to keep our calm. We can learn to strategize. We can learn about patience and resilience. This shows us that adaptability and interconnectedness of our actions teaches us lessons about the complexities and challenges of life and how to acquire wisdom and grace in what we do. Chess teaches us the power of empathy as a metaphor for life, this is because we need to understand others in life and want to get to know their point of view in order to be able to appreciate those around us.
It is important for us to have a growth mindset and knowing that no matter what we do in life, we need to keep an open mind and want to improve ourselves. Improvement is a beautiful aspect of life that we can do while living, seeing life in this way gives us the tool to improve and better ourselves in what we do. There is a system in what we do and how we live, knowing this system helps us know patterns and mechanisms in our life and to improve ourselves accordingly, therefore recognising opportunities in life is key to our improvements in life. Also spotting patterns in life helps us modify our thoughts, feelings and behaviours accordingly in order to benefit from life and recognise what is right fit for our life.
In life like chess we can be in control, in order to play well, we need to monitor and understand our emotions. We need to use our given tools to our advantage. In chess we have pieces and in life we have resources. We need to plan our time effectively and to use our resources efficiently. Therefore in chess and in life it is important to keep calm and enjoy the process, this helps with not to panic and keep on moving. We learn many valuable lessons in life and in chess, we need to keep our focus in life and in chess and gain valuable lessons along the way.
Our life is similar to a chess game. Some may say it is my life and I can do what I want, so if I decide not to do well, or to be dismissive towards life is my choice. In game of life or any other game (such as chess), if we decide to forfeit for no particular reason, it is almost the same as choosing to suffer unexpectedly. We have moral obligation for ourselves to play well with our given opportunity and resources because we only have one life and one choice in life. We have to try and be successful in life and at the same time be ethical in the way we want to achieve success. It is about being grateful for having been given the opportunity to play.
In chess we need to balance between being offensive and defensive, this is to make sure we take the right approach at any given time. In life it is the same, we need to balance ambition with practicality. This is to pursue our dreams while managing risks and responsibilities. There maybe many distractions in life therefore we need to stay focus on our pursued purpose, as this will help us reach our ultimate goals in life. As part of this process patience and making right move is important, this is because it is not possible to win on impulsive moves. Sometimes we have to wait for the right opportunity to make our move.
Just as chess is a game, life is a game too. They both have their own rules and being in these games requires being present and to try our very best. There are many possibilities and hidden opportunities in life. In chess each piece has certain strength and weakness; In life we each have our own strengths and weaknesses that we can use to achieve our goals and overcome challenges. In life certain decisions can be difficult to make but we need to be confident enough to stick with them to overcome obstacles and achieve our goals. In society there are certain rules that we need to abide by, and being a good citizen requires following this rules. At the same time we need to be vigilant that not every societal rule is acceptable or at times need modification. Therefore we should also have our own standards of living. Life is not just about what is given to us, it is also about what we make of it. Therefore we need to get involved and play our best.
Life can be unpredictable (just like in chess), therefore we need to be flexible for any unexpected event. In chess we need to make strong moves and stick to them, similarly in life we need to make choices and be confident in our decisions. Therefore being prepared, flexible and adaptable is important when unexpected events happen, this is to help take charge and to be proactive in facing challenges and obstacles. Also we need to learn from our mistakes, this is because every move we make has consequences and therefore when making mistake we need to reflect on our action and to learn our lesson, in order to be better players and individuals in life.
We play different roles in life, just as in chess where we have different pieces. In life same as chess we need to think ahead and consider long term effect of our decisions. Chess teaches us importance of analysing situations, creatively coming up with strategies and tactics, and also to be problem solvers. More we practice something better we get at doing it. Life is not any different. The more we practice living to our full potential, better we get at doing it. Therefore we can become better individuals and impact the world around us positively. So our attitude towards life and the way we see ourselves is a determinant factor in how we play in life, and ultimately our way of living. By being reflective in our actions and taking a flexible approach we can enjoy life while learning along the way.
