Individuals have goals, sometimes these goals are personal and sometimes these goals are focused towards society. We need to know where we are going in order to search for how to get there. Therefore we must try our very best to feel our way towards our meaning and purpose in life.
As long as we go towards our purpose and meaning, we will be able to make peace with issues and difficulties in life. This doesn’t mean we definitely succeed in our journey of self discovery to the fullest but it means that we will be able to understand our life, we will be able to value our place in environment, and we will be able to accept life as it is.
Our awareness of environment and self is an ongoing process, and acceptance of this helps us find and to be aligned with our true self. Knowing that our final destination is not a certain point and place, and it is instead an ongoing cycle of learning and self discovery is very important.
Therefore, as long as we want to have a fulfilling life, we should focus inward and do our best to understand our inner thoughts, feelings and meaning of life. We need to be aware that we get information from external stimuli and then we make sense of them internally, therefore what happens outside influences us, but does not define us. Our rational mind makes sense of the information we receive and tries to shape and make decision about these in our own way. This shaping and decision making is done in conjunction with our emotional mind and its state at any given moment. Knowing this helps us to regulate our thoughts, emotions and behaviour towards our ever changing goals in life, these goals need to be aligned with our beliefs and ideas stemming from our rational and emotional mind. Therefore knowing that we need others to improve, to learn, and to understand is key to our decision making. This relation to others is what truly matters and helps us regulate our thoughts, feelings and behaviour. This is because we need to learn to separate our perception of what we get from external environment, with our internal working of mind. This is because we use our senses to experience and them we use our rational and emotional brain to have a goal oriented decision specific to us.
Our mind gets these information and has a role of taking account of the environment, take account of our innate and universal capabilities, as well as innate and universal truths and facts, to make our goal oriented decision. As soon as we do this, we are on our way to a new position in time with its new set of features, having past and future possibilities to influence it. Sometimes one decision at a specific time in the space we capture it is a focal point to other experiences, thoughts and understandings. Sometimes we lose our grip with our realities, and we need to create new possibilities and experiences in order to find our way back to our reality. Sometimes we get to our unique reasoning while knowing this end is a beginning of another new journey. Sometimes our reasonings are interrelated and have complex relations to one another.
No matter what is our goal in life we can reach our conclusions by being mindful that we need to be in driving seat of our own life and we decide the direction it takes. What we let go in our journey in life is what becomes part of our us, it is our freedom to choose is what creates meaning in our choosing. We gain new experiences, we reason, and we learn new skills throughout our life, what we do with them is what counts as our understanding, and what we don’t do with them is what we need to learn most of all, this is what builds our resilience in our life.
